Emily G
Veterinary Technician
Hi, my name is Emily, and I am a Veterinary Technician at Magnolia Animal Clinic.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
I enjoy crafting, building LEGO flower sets, reading, and spending as much free time outdoors as possible — whether camping, visiting the beach, or taking a walk through a local park. I have two dogs: Dixie, a 10-year-old Boxer, German Shepherd, and Bullmastiff mix, and Butters, a 6-year-old Dalmatian who never leaves my side.
Favorite Part of My Job
I love all of it. One of my favourites is dentistry — the satisfaction of cleaning teeth and seeing the before and after. I also love radiology, and have always enjoyed seeing the structures of bones and the heart and lungs. Rehabilitation is another area I find intriguing and would like to pursue in the future. Knowing that I can be part of a pet's life, from puppy through to their final moments, is rewarding — even the difficult times, because I got to be part of their story.
Why I Chose This Profession
I have always had a strong connection to animals. I had a Labrador when I was 15 or 16 years old who passed away unexpectedly. Not knowing why that had happened, and wondering if there was anything I could have done, I decided I wanted to help animals feel better and live healthier, longer lives. Being in this profession for so long, I cannot imagine doing anything else.
Education
I completed the Veterinary Technology programme at Lone Star College, Tomball and graduated with an Associate of Science in Veterinary Technology in 2015. I am currently enrolled at Penn Foster College in their Veterinary Technology programme.
Work History
I have worked at Banfield Pet Hospital as a Veterinary Assistant since 2011, cross-trained as both a CSC and Veterinary Assistant.
